Hidden Histories - Happy Birthday St Patrick's Hospital

Today, the 19th of September, is the birthday of a deeply important institution - Saint Patrick’s Hospital, a Mental Health facility with a surprisingly long history, and a somewhat surprising founder. Dr Jonathan Swift, Dean of Saint Patrick’s Cathedral and the inventor of Modern Satire, provided the funding which allowed the institution to come into being. Swift himself struggled with his mind, and even found humour in his unusual bequest. Donal Fallon joins Gavan Reilly for another episode of Hidden Histories to discuss.
